Document submission

Received Documents
At the end of the procedure for  Slovenian citizenship, the Consulate will issue official Passport valid for 10 years, which may, at any time, be extended, exchanged or reissued if lost by paying state fees in advance:

The Law regarding citizenship of Slovenian

You may obtain Slovenian citizenship:

In special cases, Slovenian citizenship may be obtained extraordinarily if this is beneficial for the state for scientific, economic, cultural, national or similar reasons, provided that you actually live in Slovenia continuously for at least one year before submitting the application and you have the lawful status of a foreigner, and you must also fulfill additional conditions. In exceptional cases, you may acquire Slovenian citizenship even if you do not fulfill the condition of one-year continuous residence in Slovenia and the condition of the lawful status of a foreigner, taking into account your exceptional contribution to the development and increasing the international reputation or recognition of Slovenia.

Article 12 of Slovenian Citizenship Act

12. člen
“Pristojni organ lahko, če je to v skladu z nacionalnim interesom, po prostem preudarku sprejme v državljanstvo Republike Slovenije slovenskega izseljenca in njegovega potomca do četrtega kolena v ravni črti, če dejansko živi v Republiki Sloveniji vsaj eno leto pred vložitvijo prošnje, če ima urejen status tujca in če izpolnjuje pogoje iz 1., 4., 5., 6., 7., 8., 9. in 10. točke prvega odstavka 10. člena tega zakona.”

CONDITIONS
  • guaranteed means of subsistence in the amount of the basic minimum income;
  • that the person has not been sentenced to an unconditional prison sentence for more than three months or sentenced to a conditional prison sentence with a period of probation for more than one year;
  • that the person’s acquisition of citizenship poses no threat to public order, security or defense of the country;
